Satake Australia Pty Ltd is a leading manufacturer and supplier of grain handling, storage and processing equipment across Australia and Oceania. We are seeking a motivated SiloWelder to join our production team. The role is supervised by the Production Supervisor.

About the Role

The Silo Welder is responsible for the fabrication, welding and assembly of silos, structural steelwork and associated components. The role involves interpreting engineering drawings and preparing, fitting and welding metal components to required specifications. This is a physically active role that requires attention to detail, a commitment to workplace safety, and the ability to work both independently and as part of a team.

Key Responsibilities

·         Read and interpret engineering drawings, welding symbols and specifications to determine materials, dimensions and fabrication requirements for silos and associated steelwork.

·         Measure, mark, cut, shape, bend, bevel and prepare steel plate, structural sections and pipework using appropriate fabrication tools and machinery.

·         Position, align, fit, tack and assemble metal components to fabricate silo shells, hoppers, frames, supports, pipework and associated structures.

·         Select and set up appropriate welding equipment, processes and consumables in accordance with material specifications and approved welding procedures.

·         Perform manual and semi-automatic welding in various positions to fabricate, assemble and repair silo components, structural steelwork and pipework.

·         Fabricate, weld and repair pressure pipework and pressure-containing components associated with silo systems in accordance with approved welding procedures and relevant standards.

·         Inspect completed welds for alignment, penetration, fusion and defects, undertake repair welding as required, and assist with leak or pressure testing of pressure-containing components.

·         Operate and maintain welding and fabrication equipment safely while complying with production specifications, quality standards, WHS requirements and supervisor instructions.

About You

To be successful in this role you will have:

  • Certificate III in Engineering - Fabrication Trade or Welding

  • At least 2 years experience in a welding, pressure welding or metal fabrication position

  • A strong work ethic and positive attitude.

  • The ability to follow instructions and learn new skills.

  • Good attention to detail and commitment to quality workmanship.

  • Good physical fitness and ability to undertake manual handling tasks.

  • Ability to work effectively in a team environment.

  • Sound time management and organisational skills.

  • A current driver's licence is desirable.
